Today, the Honourable Prime Minister joined Tonga’s District and Town Officers for an introductory meet-and-greet, marking an important opportunity to engage directly with leaders at the community level.
In his address, the Prime Minister emphasised the importance of charting a clear and unified pathway for Tonga’s development through the pending Tonga Strategic Development Framework III (TSDF III), which will not only guide national priorities over the next ten years but set tangible goals and targets to achieve.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of ensuring that our government priorities are guided by data and evidence, with a focus on achieving measurable national outcomes. He emphasised that District and Town Officers play a critical role in this process as representatives elected by the people working under the Prime Minister’s Office. Providing essential, accurate, ground-level insights and maintaining close engagement with the grass-roots and community levels.
The Prime Minister concluded by encouraging leaders to work collaboratively and with integrity, and to uphold tauhi vā – the nurturing of relationships with the people – as a central principle of public service and nation-building.
