The Hon. Grant Robertson, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Otago, and his delegation were received yesterday by Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua on a courtesy call.

Discussions focused on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of Otago, Tonga National University, and Siaʻatoutai Theological College, aimed at strengthening support in key areas, including training gaps, medical, nursing, and dentistry. The Honourable Prime Minister also requested further support in research more broadly, particularly in addressing mental health and addiction rehabilitation.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for the University of Otago’s ongoing support to Tonga’s tertiary education institutions, as well as to Tongan students currently studying at the University.
