The Prime Minister, Lord Fakafanua, received a courtesy call this morning from Special Envoy of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, His Excellency Mr. Anvar Anarbaev. The Ambassador is touring the Pacific and is in Tonga to seek the Kingdom’s support for Kyrgyzstan’s candidature for membership on the United Nations Security Council. The Government of Tonga welcomes this engagement and expresses its support for more South-South Cooperation, green economic growth, and climate change action. Tonga and Kyrgyzstan officially formalised diplomatic relations in 2022.
