Sasakawa Peace Foundation President Visit

Mr. Paula P. Ma’u, Chief Secretary & Secretary to Cabinet welcomes this morning at the Prime Minister’s Office Dr. Atsushi Sunami, President of the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF) of Japan, for fruitful dialogue towards advancing mutual cooperation and strengthening genuine and durable partnership between Tonga and SPF.
Dr. Sunami was very pleased to visit Tonga for the first time and looks forward for closer working relationship with Tonga.
The Chief Secretary emphasized joint and collective efforts between parties to maintain and reinforce peace and security, and to mitigate adverse impacts of climate change, natural disasters, terrorism, internal conflicts, and appreciates the special fund SPC has created to assist Pacific Small Island Developing States, including Tonga.
President Sunami will be meeting with other Ministries and agencies before returning tomorrow morning.
