Government and Save the Children Fund sign disbursement agreement

Nuku’alofa – The Government of Tonga this morning signed a Standard Sub-Grant Agreement with the Save the Children Australia (SCA), and the Ministry of Education and Training (MET) for the disbursement of funds allocated for delivery of the activities identified by the SCA-MET partnership.

Government had applied for the Tonga Volcano Recovery Program for an amount of US$300,000 and the agreement will guide the disbursement of that fund.

The Honourable Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku and Minister for Education and Training signed the agreement with Ms Malmee Weerasiri, SCA’s Regional Opereations Director to the Pacific. Also attending the signing were the Hon. Minister for Finance Tiofilusi Tiueti, Her Excellency Ms Rachael Moore, Australian High Commission to Tonga, Chief Executive Officer for Education and Training Dr. Tangikina Moimoi Steen, Mr. Daisuke Kanazawa (Kana) of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and reps from the Save the Children Australia.
