Hon. Prime Minister Launches the 16 Days of Activisms & White Ribbon Day

The Hon. Prime Minister, Dr. Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa, today, 25 November, launched the 16 Days of Activism & White Ribbon Day 2019.

16 Days of Activism is an international campaign for ending ‘Gender Based Violence’ against women and girls. The campaign runs every year from 25 November (White Ribbon Day) which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day.

In Tonga, the Women’s Affairs Division chairs the Coordinating Committee for the 16 Days of Activism, where it works together with it’s stakeholders to highlight key messages for each of the 16 days.
