Nuku’alofa- Prime Minister, Hon Hu’akavameiliku officially opened the 26th USP Student Council Meeting at the USP Tonga-Campus, ‘Atele, this morning.

The Hon Hu’akavameiliku welcomes student leaders from across the blue Pacific; the Hon. Filimoni Vosarogo, Fiji Minister for Lands and Mineral resources; USP Vice-Chancellor & President Professor Pal Ahluwalia and Mr Lepani Nagarase, USP Student Association President.

He was pleased with the University’s progress across several areas and wishing USP Management the best as they continue to shape the future of the Pacific.

“As future leaders of our Blue Pacific, it is very important that you stay united and work together to build mutual trust,” he told guests and participants adding that USP provides excellent platform with several opportunities to build bridges and strengthen regional relations.

He mentioned that since USP is the largest body of students in the Pacific and the association plays a vital role in working closely with the University supporting their dynamic role in the region.

“USPSA has done a good job in starting the Pacific Youth Movement on Good Governance in the Pacific since 2021,” he said.

He stated that the Government and people of Tonga stand ready to support their journey.

He reminded participants to continue learning from each other’s experience and don’t forget the marginalized of the society.

This is the second time that the Student Council Meeting is being held in Tonga.
