The Prime Minister, Hon. Lord Fakafanua, was pleased to officially launch the Dashboard and Performance Monitoring System for the Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communications (MEIDECC). The system serves as a strengthened tool to support improved performance, enabling the Government to move beyond maintaining operations toward driving national progress, effective governance, and evidence-based service delivery for the people of Tonga.

The Dashboard and Performance Monitoring System will be replicated across Government as a best-practice mechanism, in alignment with the strategic direction of the Tonga Strategic Development Framework III (TSDF III) 2025–2035. This is part of the Prime Minister’s vision for a more efficient, agile and effective civil service, empowered by powerful tools like the Dashboard launched today.

The Prime Minister commended the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sione ʻAkauʻola, for his leadership and initiative in advancing this important milestone for MEIDECC, reflecting a forward-looking approach to strengthening performance management across the public service. He also acknowledged the work of the lead consultant, Mr. Edwin Liavaʻa, in developing the platform, demonstrating strong local expertise and capacity. This project was funded with the assistance and cooperation of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).
