Official Launch of the Migration and Sustainable Development

The Prime Minister Hon. Rev. Dr. Pohiva Tu’i’onetoa launched the Migration and Sustainable Development Policy (MSDP) on Wednesday 28th April 2021 at the Foreign Affairs media office at the St. George Government Building.
In his opening remarks he said that he was delighted to announce that Tonga, is the first country in the region to complete and launch a National Migration and Sustainable Development Policy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Planning Division of the Prime Minister’s Office, together with members of the Technical Working Group (TWG), collaborated in close partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) to develop this Migration and Sustainable Development Policy.
Tonga Government Ministries endeavors to mainstream and implement this policy, by promoting national interests, security, prosperity, and higher living quality for Tonga, by fostering foreign relations at national, bilateral, regional, and multilateral levels.
