Prime Minister and Cabinet

logo Press Release

During the first week of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, a number of official engagements took place, including the appointment of Ministers by His Majesty King Tupou VI, the swearing-in of Cabinet Ministers, and initial meetings between the Prime Minister and Ministers with the teams of their respective Ministries and curtesy calls by multilateral organisations. The week also included the exchange of messages and calls of congratulations from close partners, in particular the United States Deputy Secretary of State, Mr Christopher Landau and acknowledging the first call on our Prime Minister from overseas Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Rt Hon Christopher Luxon last week, reflecting the strong and enduring relationships Tonga maintains with its allies.

The Prime Minister has also prioritised engagement with the people of Tonga. To support this, the Prime Minister’s Office Facebook page is now properly established and accessible to the public, and an official Instagram account has been launched to provide timely updates and information. The public is welcome to follow @lordfakafanua for official updates.
