“Prime Minister Hon. Hu’akavameiliku arrives in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, for the 52nd Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting”

Cook Islands, 3 November, 2023:-The Prime Minister was officially greeted upon arrival by the Cook Islands Government, in which he will be joining the other Leaders of the Pacific for the annual Forum meeting from the 6-10 November, 2023. The 18-member Forum will be chaired this year by the Prime Minister of the Cook Islands, Hon. Mark Brown.

‘Our Voices, Our Choices, Our Pacific Way: Promote, Partner, Prosper’ is the theme for this year’s Forum, strongly emphasizing Leaders committed to its ambitious 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent (2050 Strategy), with its Implementation Plan put forward for adoption at this year’s Forum. Meeting sessions has been designed with an evolved format to create an environment of open communication, inclusivity and partnership that will propel the Pacific region towards concrete, action- oriented outcomes.

Joining Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku in Rarotonga are the Minister for Trade and Economic Development, Honorable Dr Viliami Uasike Latu, the Chief Secretary & Secretary to Cabinet and Acting Chief Executive Officer for Foreign Affairs, Mr Paula Pouvalu Ma’u, and representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Economic Development, Civil Society Forum of Tonga, the Tonga Chamber of Commerce, Private Sector and the Media.

Tonga will be hosting the next Leaders Forum in Nuku’alofa in 2024.
