Prime Minister Lord Fakafanua was pleased to meet with H.E. Dr. Abdelouahhab Zaid, Professor and Secretary-General of the Khalifa International Award for Date Palm and Agricultural Innovation.

During the meeting, discussions focused on H.E. Dr. Zaid’s visit to Tonga to undertake a technical study on the feasibility of introducing date palm farming, as well as to assess other potential agricultural crops with prospects for export to the United Arab Emirates. The engagement reflects Tonga’s interest in strengthening agricultural innovation, diversification, and international partnerships to support job creation and Tongan exports.
