Prime Minister Meeting with UNDP Pacific Tonga Team

PM152

A meeting was held today with the Prime Minister and Minister for MEIDECC, Lord Fakafanua, and the UNDP Pacific Tonga team to review Tonga’s engagement to date, which has been largely channelled through MEIDECC, with a primary focus on environmental sustainability, climate change, and disaster risk management. This cooperation has resulted in the mobilisation of USD 32.8 million from the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).

The meeting further noted the potential to expand collaboration into additional thematic and cross-sectoral areas, including social development, economic diversification, digital governance, and private-sector engagement.
