“Signing ceremony for the Agreement between the Government of Tonga and the Government of Australia AUD$5 million Budget Support for Health Infrastructure.”

The Prime Minister of Tonga, the Honourable Dr. ‘Aisake Valu Eke, signed an agreement during a signing ceremony held today, Thursday 12 June, 2025 at the Tatakamotonga Health Centre in Mu‘a, Tonga. The agreement, signed with the Australian High Commissioner to Tonga, His Excellency Mr. Brek Batley, represents a partnership between the Government of Tonga and the Government of Australia, providing AUD $5 million in budget support for health infrastructure in Tatakamotonga.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister expressed his government’s appreciation for Australia’s support, stating:
“The AUD $5 million in budget support will contribute to Tonga’s health infrastructure and help strengthen our economic and social resilience. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with the Government of Australia, as we do with all our development partners, through close engagement in initiatives that promote peace, health, sustainable growth, and stability for the people of Tonga.”
