The Honourable Prime Minister called a meeting with the National Drug Taskforce as part of ongoing efforts to combat illicit drugs in Tonga and the wider Pacific region.

Illicit drugs continue to pose a serious threat to health, security and the well-being of our population especially vulnerable groups in our society. This is the first meeting of the special taskforce this year. The Prime Minister as chair of the group is committed to calling more regular meetings to reinforce the Government’s commitment to coordinated action across Ministries and non-government stakeholders.
