“Tonga receives 20 boat engines from People’s Republic of China”

The Government of Tonga received 20 boat engines of 90 horsepower, totaling to approximately $900,000 TOP during a Handover Ceremony at the Fa’onelua Convention Center, Friday 31 March 2023.
H.E Mr Cao Xiaolin, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Tonga, presented the 20 boat engines on behalf of the Dongguan Municipality and his country to the Hon. Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku.
The People’s Government of Dongguan Municipality, Guangdong Province, China, donated these boat engines to Tonga as part of continuing friendship between the Chinese and Tongan People.
On behalf of the Government of Tonga, the Hon. Prime Minister Hu’akavameiliku extended sincere gratitude to the Peoples Government of Dongguan Municipality and the Peoples’ Republic of China.
He said “this assistance will greatly facilitate Tonga’s development in various aspects, improve people’s livelihood and enable achieving Government Priority Goals.
