The Minister of MEIDECC, Hon Fekitamoeloa ‘Utoikamanu held bilateral discussions with HE Mr. Elnur Soltanov, Deputy Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan and the Chief Executive Officer of COP29. The discussion centered on the upcoming COP29 to be hosted in Azerbaijan from the 11th to the 22nd November 2024, and the critical issue of climate change and how they can collaborate to coordinate efforts to understand this substantial threat. The Hon. Minister highlighted the urgency to speed up the implementation of climate action. The delegation led by the Minister, and the Minister of Home Affairs & Energy of Tuvalu and delegation also participated at the meeting.
