“United Nations Resident Representative pays courtesy call On Prime Minister”

Nuku’alofa:- Prime Minister, Hon Hu’akavameiliku, received a courtesy call from the new United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative, Ms. Munkhtuya Altangerel, who’s administering the UNDP Programme in ten Pacific Islands including Tonga.

Ms. Altangerel, based in the UNDP Office in Suva, Fiji, discussed with the Hon Prime Minister on Tonga’s engagements with the UNDP including the support for the HTHH volcanic eruption and tsunami; climate change and disaster risk reduction; Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); Ocean Governance and Blue Economy; Youth Development and Employment; COVID-19 recovery and Health security; UNDP support to governance of Pacific Parliaments and how to strengthen the longstanding and ongoing partnership with Tonga.

Ms. Altangerel, also presented her letter of credential to Hon Hu’akavameiliku.
