The Prime Minister of Tonga Hon Hu’akavameiliku arrived in Athens, Greece yesterday leading Tonga’s delegation to the “Our Ocean’s Conference” in Greece which will take place from 15 – 17 April 2024.

The Conference will address crosscutting areas including Sustainable tourism in coastal areas and islands, reduction of marine plastic and microplastic pollution, Green shipping, and Green transition in the Mediterranean.

Ahead of the Conference, the Hon Prime Minister held a bilateral meeting with his Cook Islands Counterpart Hon Mark Brown. They discussed areas of interest.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by the Minister for Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communications (MEIDECC), Chief Secretary and Secretary to Cabinet Mr Paula Ma’u, Dr Fonongava’inga Mangisi of the MEIDECC and other government officials.
